ummer is when to greet your friends from the year before. Summer is the time of people, who journey here from downstate, the surrounding states, or winter retirement homes. From seemingly every state, and foreign countries as well. Everyone returns who's able to, with plenty of first-timers mixed in, swearing they too will be back. The harbor abounds with boats, the airports with planes. Hikers, campers, mountain bikers; cousins, children, grandchildren; fishermen, tourists, shoppers; artists, photographers, young people with a guitar tied on the outside of their pack ... they're all here, from Memorial Day on, through the Fourth of July Parade, Museum Week, and Homecoming.
